This conclusion reflects what many organizations are already experiencing. Sustained pressure, economic uncertainty, and continuous disruption are no longer episodic challenges; they are the environment. Performance strategies that fail to account for the human system operating within that environment are increasingly fragile.
The Shift: From Fragmented Programs to Holistic Capacity
One of the most consequential predictions in the report is the move toward advancing holistic well-being, not as a collection of siloed initiatives, but as an integrated, personalized, and enterprise-wide strategy (WebMD Health Services, 2026).

Holistic well-being reflects what neuroscience, physiology, and organizational research consistently demonstrate: human performance is systemic.
Why Grit Is No Longer Sufficient
Many organizations still rely on grit as their resilience strategy.
Grit drives persistence.
Resilience determines whether people recover.
The WebMD report reinforces this distinction by demonstrating that well-being is directly linked to engagement, burnout, retention, and organizational trust. Holistic resilience is not therapy.

It is the capacity of an organization to pursue ambitious goals without breaking its people in the process.
And in the years ahead, that capacity may be the most decisive competitive advantage of all.
