Holistic
resilience

you from
the adverse
mental &
physical
effects of
toxic stress
& traumatic
experiences.
Toxic stress and trauma can significantly harm our mental & physical health.
Research is clear that traumatic events and adversity can have devastating effects on you, both mentally and physically. According to the CDC, 60% of adults in the United States have at least one chronic disease, and approximately 66% of those have two or more. These numbers are alarming, and they are rising. Much research has linked traumatic events, especially early life traumatic events, with chronic inflammation, dysregulated neuroendocrine system, and metabolic syndrome - all of which are primary contributors to the development of chronic disease.
Even with these startling findings, resilience research has largely focused on the importance of psychological resilience - defined as the absence of anxiety, depression, and PTSD - leaving out the importance of cultivating physiological resilience.
HOLISTIC RESILIENCE = whole-self resilience. It is the result of successfully responding to and adapting after traumatic experiences and toxic stress, both psychologically and physiologically, through a dynamic, multisystem process.
Physical effects of toxic stress and trauma are often observed in those who have achieved professional success.
Research indicates that many adults who experienced chronic childhood adversity, who later in adulthood became professionally successful, appear to be psychologically healthy while physically having increased levels of chronic inflammation and disease. This phenomenon is known as "skin-deep resilience" because the adverse effects of toxic stress and trauma are not observable to others.
These folks are considered PERSEVERERS and OVERCOMERS - and while that's true, they did not come out unscathed. Their bodies tell the story that their heads and hearts may have long forgotten.
It's never too late to cultivate holistic resilience!
But you don't know what you don't know.
Meet Kelly...
she knows and can help!
Kelly Greene is a Certified Health and Wellness Coach who focuses on helping other professionals cultivate holistic resilience through health coaching and psychotherapy.
Although no longer actively practicing, Kelly is a licensed TN attorney and practiced law for over 15 years. Realizing that helping clients as a health professional rather than a legal professional, Kelly returned to school and obtained a master’s degree in psychology from Harvard University. Her graduate thesis research focused on early-life traumatic events and holistic resilience, which you can read here.
In addition to her formal degrees, Kelly completed the necessary coursework to pursue a psychotherapy license in TN. Her professional certifications include Safe and Sound Protocol Clinical Provider and Certified Consulting Hypnotist. She also has extensive Enneagram training by Suzanne Stabile and Beatrice Chestnut and their respective organizations. These equip her with a broad toolkit for addressing physical and psychological health challenges with her clients.
Kelly’s professional journey has taken her from being a legal advocate to being a holistic health advocate and teacher. Teaching is one of her greatest passions; accordingly, she also enjoys her work as a part-time lecturer in a forensic psychology master's program at a local university. This multifaceted experience fuels her ability to connect with individuals from various backgrounds and professions and offer personalized strategies for growth and transformation.

The Healthy 4 H's of Holistic Resilience
Research has shown that several key factors contribute to our ability to be holistically resilient after traumatic experiences. These factors can be grouped into 4 main categories:
Head - represents the ability to generate healthy thoughts and cognitions.
Heart - represents the ability to both feel and release emotions and experience spirituality.
Hands - represents physical activity, nutrition, and healthy habits.
Human Connection - emphasizes the importance of having healthy relationships and mentors.
"The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places."
